Publication Description
New publication Nearshore Benthic Habitat GIS for the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and Southern California State Fisheries Reserve, volume II; 2005, U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2005-1170 This online publication provides sidescan sonar mosaic, SCUBA and ROV habitat dive observations, compiled surficial sample data and habitat interpretations collected from 1998 thru 2004. These data were acquired in support of a cooperative project with the State of California to study Marine Protected Areas.

Multibeam Bathymetry and Backscatter Data: Northeastern Channel Islands Region, Southern California; 2005, U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2005-1153

This Open-File Report publishes the multibeam bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data in a number of different formats, with Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata, along with maps and oblique views of particular areas of interest.

Coastal Vulnerability Assessment of Channel Islands National Park (CHIS) to Sea-Level Rise; 2005, U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2005-1057

This Open-File report discusses the methodology used and results of the vulnerability assessment for Channel Islands National Park (CHIS). The coastal vulnerability index (CVI) provides insight in to the relative potential of coastal change due to future sea-level rise.

Nearshore Benthic Habitat GIS for the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and Southern California State Fisheries Reserves Volume 1; 2003, U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 03-085

This Open-File Report contains data from sidescan sonar, bathymetry, video and dive observations collected in support of a benthic habitat mapping program conducted by the USGS and NOAA. Data have been consolidated in a geographic information system (GIS) to provide researchers and policymakers a view of the relationship among data sets to assist scientific research and to help with economic and social policy-making decisions regarding this protected environment.

Coastal Vulnerability to Sea-Level Rise: A Preliminary Database for the U.S. Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf of Mexico Coasts; 2001, U.S. Geological Survey Digital Data Series DDS-68

This Digital Data Series CD-ROM contains a preliminary report of the National Assessment of Coastal Vulnerability to Sea-Level Rise for the conterminous United States. In addition, the data used in these reports are included in GIS compatible format.
