Internet Map Server Description
The USGS Bear Lake, Utah-Idaho Internet Map Server contains published data layers and information from the U.S. Geological Survey,Coastal and Marine Geology Program (CMGP). The data layers presented here were collected as part of a USGS field work conducted in September 2002. The project was a cooperative with other researchers from several universities who have been studying the sediments of Bear Lake since 1996. This research relates to a variety of human concerns, including water usage in the Bear River basin. An example of the Bear Lake Internet Map Server map view is shown above. This map view shows the Bear Lake sidescan sonar mosaic with CHIRP navigation track lines, the extent of Bear Lake (in blue) and a shaded relief image created from available Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data of the surrounding Idaho and Utah region. Data layers may be "turned-off or on" by selecting the visible button beside the layer name. The map view will automatically update. A complete description of the available data layers are listed in the GIS Data Catalog.
