The USGS Long Bay, South Carolina Internet Map Server contains published data layers and information from research conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey, Coastal and Marine Geology Program (CMGP) in partnership with the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium (SCSGC). An example of the default map view is shown at the right. This map view shows the sidescan sonar data collected in the northern coastal area of South Carolina in Long Bay from Little River Inlet to Winyah Bay. Additional data layers for the Long Bay region include: 1- grab sample and on-shore borehole locations; 2- several geologic interpretations; 3- gray-scale and color-encoded shaded relief bathymetric images; and 4- location and links to collected seismic data.

Data layers may be "turned-off or on" in the map view by selecting the visible button (check box) beside the layer name. The map view will automatically update to reflect the change. A complete description of the available data layers may be found in the publication GIS Data Catalog.
