Internet Map Server Description
The USGS Gulf of Maine Internet Map Server contains a large selection of GIS data layers from a variety of published sources. The default map view is shown at the right and shows the Gulf of Maine region covered by the Internet Map Server. This map view shows the following layers by default: U.S. Atlantic East Coast, portions of Canada, the location of surficial sample data collected and processed by the USGS, CMGP, Woods Hole Science Center (WHSC), the boundary of the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and the Coastal Vulnerability Index showing the potential of coastal change due to sea-level rise. A total of 42 additional data layers containing the location of surficial samples with in the Gulf of Maine region are also available for viewing and download. Other basemap data layers relative to the specific mapsite have been compiled from a variety of public domain sites and are also available for viewing and download. Data layers may be "turned-off or on" by selecting the visible button beside the layer name. The map view will automatically update.
